I received my doctorate from the New School for Social Research in 2004 for my dissertation “The Metaphysics of Polytheism in Proclus”. Since then, I’ve published regularly in academic journals and edited volumes, primarily on Platonism and Neoplatonism and on polytheistic philosophy of religion. Most of this work is available on this site on the Philosophy and Theology pages. I also have a strong interest in Egyptian theology, and this site hosts my Theological Encyclopedia of the Goddesses and Gods of the Ancient Egyptians, with entries on over 150 Egyptian deities. I wrote Noēseis, a regular column for Polytheist.com, a site which is presently on hiatus, and was an associate editor of Walking the Worlds: A Biannual Journal of Polytheism and Spiritwork from 2014-2020. Since March of 2021 I am the Director of the Center for Global Polytheist and Indigenous Traditions, a Thought Center at Indic Academy. I also serve on the advisory board of the journal Oscillations: Non-Standard Experiments in Anthropology, the Social Sciences, and Cosmology.
